Our Story

Belinda Rice Interior and Building Design was originally founded in 2003 and returns in 2025 better than ever.

Belinda began her career as a structural engineering consultant and worked at prominent engineering firms, GHD and Wallbridge & Gilbert. Key projects she was involved in at that time include structural and civil design for a large range of residential, commercial and industrial projects across Australia. Driven by a passion for creative design, she then completed qualifications in Interior Decoration and Design, and Building Design at the DMIT, South Australia. Having gained valuable residential design experience with Scott Salisbury Homes, Belinda launched Belinda Rice Interior and Building Design in 2003, providing both residential interior design and building design services in Adelaide.

In 2005, Belinda spent a brief period in London, UK, working as a commercial Interior Designer and Space Planner before returning to Adelaide to start her family and return to her business.

In 2013 Belinda joined forces with Calandra Haynes to form Leabrook Hill. Since then, Belinda has undertaken a wide range of projects including building design for new homes, residential alterations and extensions, kitchen and bathroom designs, mood boards and interior concepts, soft furnishings and furniture selection for both residential and commercial office projects.

After taking some time out to spend with her family in 2016, in 2017 Belinda joined MLEI Consulting Engineers as a structural drafter and senior interior/building designer and continued to use her engineering and interior design experience for both residential and commercial projects, incorporating 3D computer modelling.

Belinda is regularly able to use the skills she gained in her engineering experience together with her interior design knowledge in providing a seamless liaison between design and construction phases of a project.

Working with successful companies in both structural engineering and interior design, and running her own business has given Belinda a broad experience in structural, civil, building and interior design, and project management. This includes experience in preparing building reports, concept and detailed drawings, specifications and contract documents. Her creative gift and love of colour are combined with a good understanding of the importance of meeting budgets and deadlines.
